BCSD Turkey Chair Ebru Dildar Edin expressed her thoughts with regard to her new role: “As BCSD Turkey we have been working for 14 years to establish sustainability as a fundamental part of the corporate strategies. Aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that came into force in January 2016 and became a framework for the business world, we have been leading the efforts for sustainability for several institutions and companies from various industries. We continue our practices focusing on four focus areas; Transition to Low Carbon Economy and Efficiency, Sustainable Industry and Circular Economy, Sustainable Agriculture and Access to Food, and Social Inclusion. Considering our member profile and the scale of our international network, BCSD Turkey has a broad impact area. Currently, the members of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) have over 19 million employees and represent a total revenue of more than US$8,5 trillion. WBCSD network spreads to 70 different countries with one being BCSD Turkey.
As BCSD Turkey, we gain a stronger position in both Turkey’s sustainability transformation and the international arena every day. Today our members represent more than %15 of Turkey’s gross domestic product, furthermore, with the whole value chain in mind BCSD Turkey bears the potential of initiating a much larger transformation. Taking collective action has vital importance for both local and international competitiveness as well as contributing to the sustainable development of our country. Transition to circular economy alone has potential of yielding US$4.5 trillion growth opportunity by 2030. When other aspects of sustainability are factored in, the figure multiplies. As a country our goal should be having our share from these opportunities and contributing to the future of our planet at the same time. With this approach BSCD Turkey will continue to deliver its exemplary work..
